South Yorkshire Police is the most improved force in British policing and has held this position for the last three years. This comes from a clear aim: to protect the public through fighting crime, tackling anti-social behaviour and protecting vulnerable people. The 5,000 officers and staff serve a population of 1.4 million people covering a diverse 600 square miles. This involves working with a range of environments and demographics. The force remains committed to providing an outstanding police service for the residents of South Yorkshire and now has a problem solving approach at it’s heart. This means the force has invested heavily into the front line to ensure our most challenged neighbourhoods have a strong police presence to enable a proactive problem solving approach to crime and the causes of crime. This reduces the demand on our response officers and allows us to effectively investigate crime.
