Prior to taking on the role of CEO of the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA) in April 2015, John held a number of senior roles, working both in the private and not-for-profit sectors in companies of all shapes and sizes, gaining a wealth of experience. His considerable knowledge of the accounting profession was achieved when he worked for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) for many years. He is also a fellow member of the IFA and of the Institute of Public Accountants of Australia. Before joining the IFA, John worked for a range of SMEs/SMPs as a business consultant, helping them to strategically develop and grow their businesses. He was also the chief operating officer of a venture capitalist business investing and developing companies across many sectors, including: construction; information technology; motor sport; events and marketing; charities; cruise liners; and airlines.
